Seventh Kalpanirjhar International short fiction film festival Kolkata – 2009

The Kalpanirjhar Foundation, Kolkata founded in 2001, is committed to developing a democratic platform for the study and creative use of the entire range of the audiovisual media, particularly in their role in social critique, change and development.

Aimed at practitioners and professionals, it hopes to grow towards an informal network ready to share ideas and experiences and envisage and devise strategies and methods for positive changes in these fields and other related areas.

 

 
Cinewave Publication
The Kalpanirjhar Foundation launches its publication programme with Cinewave Interviews from the 1980s, which is a collection of interviews of film makers published in the periodical Cinewave. The interviewees include Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Goutam Ghose, Aparna Sen, Buddhadev Dasgupta and Aribam Syam Sharma. The publication will be edited by Samik Bandyopadhyay.
 
 
 
First Kalpanirjhar
Annual Lecture 2009
The First Kalpanirjhar Annual Lecture was held on 1 April 2009 at the Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata. It was an evening titled “Aparna Sen in Conversation with Samik Bandyopadhyay”.
The lecture was presented by the Kalpanirjhar Foundation and Goethe Institute / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and sponsored by VIVADA Cruises.

Seventh Kalpanirjhar International Short Fiction Film Festival 2009

The Seventh Kalpanirjhar International Short Fiction Film Festival now brings you 82 films from 20 countries. Out of the 86 Indian entries received, 16 have been selected for screening at the Festival and these will be competing for the Patton Award 2009 to be announced on the last day of the Festival.
Over the years the Festival has grown in spread and variety, and has tried to maintain the right balance between experimentation and social concern.

Filmscripts Competition
Entries are Invited for short fiction film scripts in English within 30 mins duration for the National Competition which will have a cash award of Rs.20,000 only and will be adjudged by a distinguished jury. The Scripts should be submitted in 3 hard-copies & it should be accompanied by a synopsis of the film written in English.
Last date for entries: 31 December 2009
